Why trees in the City better the quality our lives
In one year, a single tree can absorb as much carbon as is produced by a car driven 42,000 kilometres.
Two mature trees can provide enough oxygen for a family of four. One tree produces nearly 260 pounds of oxygen each year.
Trees improve water quality by slowing and filtering rain water as well as protecting aquifers and watersheds.
Trees provide protection from downward fall of rain, sleet, and hail as well as reduce storm run-off and the possibility of flooding.
Trees provide food and shelter for wildlife.
Trees help to clean the air by filtering out particles that include chemicals that cause respiratory ailments, acid rain and ozone pollution.
One acre of trees provides enough oxygen for 18 people.
